You’ve learned about the “nuts and bolts” of wellness: fitness, exercise, stress reduction, and good nutrition. Now it’s time to put it all together. This unit examines fitness programs for the general population. In future units, you’ll learn about fitness programs for special populations.

When you complete this course, you’ll be able to:

  • Plan health assessments for clients
  • Set goals for clients and for fitness program design
  • Suggest fitness program designs based on warm-up, cool-down, aerobic, and strength-training components
  • Detail the six basic body positions
  • Discuss safety considerations for fitness program design
  • Suggest exercise movements for an aerobic workout
  • Suggest components for the warm-up and cool-down portions of a fitness program
  • Explain how the fitness instructor cues clients during and between workouts
